Drops of Hope

Small Truths, Big Impact

Change our mindset

1/19/2019

An idea can graduate into a great grand thing and take you places you have never been before or could even dream! It can also take you to the deepest depths of shame and regret if used incorrectly! Every thought or decision is a crossroad to success or failure, but all this starts in your mind! How you choose to think has a great deal about the outcome of your situation. If your attitude is poor, expect poor results. If you come at things in your life with negativity, then expect negativity! Your mindset is what will drive the results in every aspect of your life. There is a profound rule that God has put in place, what you put into your mind is what is going to come out in some way, shape, or form. What you are putting in will come out through your actions, how you treat people, how you handle hardships, how you think your way through life. But, most important, what you put into your mind will affect your relationship with God!

“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!”
Matthew 6:22-23 (ESV)

This is why the Bible teaches us to have our eyes (minds) fixed on God! (Hebrews 12:2) Also, that we are to be "Forever Learners". Have you ever heard "knowledge is power", well it's true! If there is a battle that means, there is an enemy. An enemy who is studying your weakness and exploring ways to exploit you and ultimately hurt you (Luke 22:31). Moreover, this will help us better understand God’s perfect Will in our lives!

1.) Fill your mind with God and His Word
  • "For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
          Romans 8:6-8 (ESV)
2.) Take ownership of your mind.
  • “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
          Romans 12:2 (ESV)
3.) Remember this ~GIGO~ Garbage In/Garbage Out.
  • “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”
          Philippians 4:8-9 (ESV)
4.) Never stop learning.
  • “and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”
          Ephesians 4:23-24 (ESV)
5.) Defense is the best "Offence"
  • “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,”
          Ephesians 6:10-18 (ESV)
6.) Understand What God’s Will is for you.
  • ” Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
              Ephesians 5:15-17 (ESV)

If we strive to strengthen ourselves and submit ourselves to God, we can then come closer to the person  He has made us to be. We will never be perfect, but we can try and become more for ourselves, for our families, for all those around you. Ultimately, we should want to do these things to strengthen our relationship with God!

Be Blessed,
